I would rather say "学不了艾略特，惠特曼，就回来 做李白杜甫。学不了尼采萨特，就回来 做鲁迅、闻一多。。。庞得 study, translate and write about Confucious. 学不了庞得, 就 be yourself, which is a most natural and agreeable thing to do.
The master said, "Is it not pleasant to learn with a constant perseverance and application? Is it not delightful to have friends coming from distant quarters? Is he not a man of complete virtue, who feels no discomposure though men may take no note of him?
When you were young, wanderlust took hold of you. When you get old, returning to where you come from and be around your kins haunts you. As long as self remains in the center, desiring of the other will not cease. Letting self melts into all Others, I AM truly an image of GOD.
